EAR STRETCHING 101




For those of you who don't follow me on Instagram (TTG_BLOG go follow now!!!) I have started my ear stretching journey; contrary to what was suggested I skipped from a normal piercing to a 4mm diameter or 6G or 6 Gauge.

The stretch was a lot less painful than what was described and I am definitely ready for my next stretch which will be on 8/6/2014. I will be bypassing a 4g and going straight to a 2g.

they say you shouldn't skip sizes but I never have been one to follow directions plus I know my body pretty well and I know what I can handle and what doesn't feel right; if I start the stretch and it doesn't go smoothly I will stop point blank. 

After comparing the 4g and 2g the difference isn't significant enough for me not to skip. My goal size is a 00g. no I will not skip from a 2g to 00g that is a huge stretch (the largest as far as mm if you are going from a 14g or more in your own ear stretching journey). I will go 0g after 2g and then I will make the 00g stretch God willing on 9/3/2014.

I'm sure many people feel that ear stretching is a hip new phenomena or some kind of rebellious act but ear stretching has been around as long as recorded human history.

Ear stretching is a modification practiced by and originating from indigenous peoples. Tribes in various countries in Africa, Eurasia, America and other indigenous lands have practiced the ritual of ear stretching for cultural, religious and traditional purposes. 

This is a ritual that has been practiced by people all over the world from ancient times. Bone, horn, wood, and stone were generally carved for ear stretching, but other organic materials that had the right shape naturally, from shells to teeth and claws, were also used. 

Historically, the practice has been used for the purpose of tribal status, to scare enemies in war, and beauty purposes. It has been and still is a common practice for both men and women. For men, it has been used historically to indicate the standing members of a specific tribe. The bigger the stretching, the higher the ranking the male had. As for women, ear stretching is more for decorative purposes and also signifies when a girl has reached womanhood. These purposes are still important and used today by many tribes and cultures.

There are many examples of different tribes and cultures that use the art and practice of stretching.


Ancient Egyptian pharaoh King Tutankhamen is of one of the earliest known to have stretched ear lobes. It can clearly be seen in one of his more famous images on his sarcophagus. The instrument used to stretch the pharaoh’s ears is unknown, but there are many possibilities including bamboo or wooden plugs.


Gautama Buddha, an aristocratic and wealthy prince, had long stretched ears. He wore heavy gold earrings or precious stones as a status symbol, and the weight stretched his ear lobes dramatically. When he finally renounced his wealth and discarded his jewelry, his ear lobes were permanently stretched. As a way of remembering Buddha's act of personal self-sacrifice in walking away from his wealth, all succeeding images of Gautama Buddha show his stretched ear lobes without jewellery.


Aztec and Mayan men are traditionally known to have had stretched ears. The Aztecs crafted plugs from gold and silver for the higher-class men whereas the lower class wore materials such as shells, wood, and copper. The same idea can be seen with the Mayans. High-class men wore jade plugs, and the rest of society used bone, stone, and wood.

So how do you stretch your ears?

1) Decide the size. To start, you'll want to decide just how big you want to stretch your earlobe piercings. Take a look at different sizes of jewelry posts at the mall or your local piercing parlor. Get an idea of what gauge (size) of jewelry you, ultimately, want to wear. Remember smaller gauges are bigger jewelry, so the larger hole you will be creating in your earlobe.

2) Pierce your lobes. If your earlobe isn't pierced, go to an established, reputable piercer. Discuss with the piercer, what gauge you want to stretch to and let him or her help you decide how large you want to pierce your earlobes. Make sure to record your earlobe piercing size so you can pick the proper gauge once you start stretching. Do not start stretching until the piercing has healed completely. Remember: Fresh piercings should always be allowed to heal with sterilized stainless steel in place and will take at least one month to heal.

3) Pierced lobes. If you already have pierced ears, you should figure out what gauge your piercings are. If you were pierced with a gun, they are eighteen gauge. If you were pierced by a piercer, you can go to any piercing shop and ask for help determining what gauge your earlobes are before you stretch them.

4) Acquire tapers. Once you know what size you're stretching from and to, you'll need "tapers" for your earlobes. You can buy these online or at many piercing parlors. These are what actually stretch your earlobes. You can buy long, straight tapers that use a rubber "O" ring to hold them in place, or spiral jewelry tapers; both start small and get bigger, thus the name. Either type will do, both will look funny sticking partway through your ear. Get over it or risk ripping your earlobes instead of stretching them.

5) Don't stretch too fast. A very common mistake is trying to stretch too fast. When you're working your way to a smaller gauge (bigger jewelry), it's better to not skip any gauges once you get into the single digits. In the double digits, skipping a gauge can be easy and relatively painless. To get to the gauge you want, you may need to buy several different sized tapers and wait many months to get to your goal. Stretching too fast, or ripping your earlobes as you stretch them, can result in developing scar tissue. Not attractive. If you do tear your earlobe while stretching thoroughly clean and put your previous size jewelry back in and allow your stretched earlobe to heal completely before stretching again.

6) Finally, how do you actually do the stretching? First, make sure your hands, earlobes, and your taper are clean. You may want to use some lubricant on the thinner end of your taper. Use one hand to firmly grip your taper and your other hand to support your earlobe as you stretch. Slowly, but firmly push it through your earlobe piercing. Some mildly painful pressure is normal. If you feel like your earlobe is actually tearing or if you notice blood, stop. If you can't get the taper all the way to it's widest point, don't worry. Leave it in place until your earlobe is no longer sore and try again until you get there. Once you do, keep the jewelry in your ear until all swelling and discomfort is gone. Don't rush!

S/N: If you are experiencing pain there is a way around it. rub your ears with analgesic gel and lubricant and try again. for me it worked as a numbing agent also for a additional chance of success shower before stretching. (Complete Bro Science)

TRIP HOP -- DOWN TEMPO -- LOUNGE MUSIC -- WHY AREN'T YOU LISTENING?! STONERS?


This year has been busy for me so were expecting great things!

 In my endeavors to lead a positive life and inspire others I've stumbled upon some incredible music.

 The category is TRIP HOP and it may very well be the most soothing music I've ever heard.

 Trip hop is a genre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. Deriving from "post"-acid house, the term was first used by the British music media and press as a way to describe the more experimental variant of breakbeat which contained influences of soul, funk and jazz. It has been described as "Europe's alternative choice in the second half of the '90s", and "a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognisable." Trip hop music fuses several styles and has much in common with other genres; it has several qualities similar to ambient music and its drum-based breakdowns share characteristics with hip hop. It also contains elements of R&B, dub and house, as well as other electronic music. Trip hop can be highly experimental in nature

 For this post I'm going to focus on one of my personal favorite TRIP HOP artist:

 FKA Twigs. (the beautiful young lady above)

Tahliah Barnett (born 16 January 1988), known as FKA twigs, is a British musician and dancer originally from Gloucestershire and currently based in London. She became known as Twigs for the way her joints crack. She affixed the acronym FKA (Formerly Known As) to her name when another artist called Twigs complained about her use of the name. (wikipedia)

Twigs is on the Young Turks record label and is doing damage with tracks like Papi Pacify which may very well be the sexiest song I've ever heard and will definitely be added to my bedroom collecton.

I could go on and on but don't take my word for it.

BITCH


During a quiet moment of reflection it came to me...

Growing up I have seen the word Bitch used in various ways. 
 
This is bro science but I would say 99% of the time Bitch is used as a term used to describe someone who:
  1. acts cowardly
  2. as a derogatory name for women
  3. or even as a term of endearment
lets explore deeper...

5 "HEALTHY" FOODS THAT AREN'T HELPING YOU LOSE WEIGHT!!!

In my journey to become the best version of myself (ongoing) I have discovered many interesting things. Since the popularity of fitness and health consciousness is on the rise I figured now would be the perfect time to share a 5 of the best tips I've learned for losing weight/fat! Most people have heard that sugar, white flour, and sodas are detrimental to your health as well as fat loss but I'm welling to bet that you didn't know the following 5 "Healthy" options could be keeping you from reaching your weight loss goals!




#1 FRUIT JUICE - I'm willing to bet you've been told "juice is good for you" well my friends this is simply not true and while it may be 100% juice the sugar levels can be comparable to your favorite soft drink. As an alternative just grab a piece of actual fruit! The sugar levels are significantly lower and it should taste just as great as the bottled alternative.




#2 SPORT DRINKS - Gatorade, Powerade, etc. yes they have electrolytes but they also have sugar! Sports drinks are made for what the name says... Sports. If you are involved in high intensity training or you are an athlete by all means drink your G2 you will need they calories to replenish what you burned off but if your an average joe and just work out to look good Sports Drinks can and will make you fat.




#3 ORGANIC - Yes Organic... Now I'm not talking about organic fruits and veggies; People think the organic label gives you a pass to eat anything! Organic may be healthier than it's chemically altered cousins but a cookie or cake is still a cookie or cake... Refrain or at least limit your consumption of these type of products.




#4 WHOLE WHEAT BREAD - This is one if the big ones! Whole wheat bread is really not to far off from white bread and while it may spare you some of calories associated with the alternative and have a higher nutritional value it's still something to stay away from if your chasing that beach body.




#5 GRANOLA - lets he honest you knew it was too good to be true lol. I myself was/am a huge fan of granola but it is packed with sugar and unless you need that energy immediately it will be stored as fat.

CAN BODY FAT BE TURNED INTO MUSCLE?

NO!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the most common fitness myths.

 FACT #1: Body Fat will not and cannot be converted into Muscle.

FACT #2: Building more muscle can help you to lose weight because it burns more calories.

As you may or may not know you lose weight by burning more calories than you consume and working out will definitely burn calories if done properly... Or improperly for that matter.

However the fat on your body is not converted into muscle.

For every pound of muscle you have, your body will burn about 6-10 calories per day.

For every pound of fat you burn about 2-4 (yes even fat requires energy to maintain itself.)

So on your road to fitness remember to stay focused and positive. If you don't see the body in the mirror that you want remember it didn't take a couple of days to get that way so it won't take a couple of days to change it.

The Story of the Blessing of El-ahrairah

Today in watching a pretty interesting movie I came across an equally interesting story and decided to share it with you all. If you like the read let me know and I will follow up with the history and meaning.




"Long ago, Frith made the world. He made all the stars, too, and the world is one of the stars. He made them by scattering his droppings over the sky and this is why the grass and the trees grow so thick on the world. Frith makes the rivers flow. They follow him as he goes through the sky, and when he leaves the sky they look for him all night. Frith made all the animals and birds, but when he first made them they were all the same. The sparrow and the kestrel were friends and they both ate seeds and flies. And the fox and the rabbit were friends and they both ate grass. And there was plenty of grass and plenty of flies, because the world was new and Frith shone down bright and warm all day.

"Now, El-ahrairah was among the animals in those days and he has many wives. He has so many wives that there was no counting them, and the wives has so many young that even Frith could not count them, and they ate the grass and the dandelions and the lettuces and the clover, and El-ahrairah was the father of them all."

"And after a time, the grass began to grow thin and the rabbits wandered everywhere, multiplying and eating as they went."

"Then Frith said to El-ahrairah, 'Prince Rabbit, if you cannot control your people, I shall find ways to control them. So mark what I say, But El-ahrairah would not listen and he said to Frith, "My people are the strongest in the world, for they breed faster and eat more than any of the other people". And this shows how much they love Lord Frith, for of all the animals they are the most responsive to his warmth and brightness. You must realize, my lord how important they are and not hinder them in their beautifyl lives".

Frith could have killed El-ahrairah at once, but he had a mind to keep him in the world, because he needed him to sport and jest and play tricks. So he determined to get the better of him, not by means of his own great power but by means of a trick. He gave out that he would hold a great meeting and that at that meeting he would give a present to every animal and bird, to make each one different from the rest. And all the creatures set out to go to the meeting place. But they all arrived at diffent times, because Frith made sure that it would happen so. And when the blackbird came, he have him his beautiful song, and when the cow came, he have her sharp horns and the strength to be aftaid of no other creature. And so when their turn came, the fox and the stoat and the weasel. And to each of them Frith gave the cunning and the fierceness and the desire to hint and slay and eat the children of El-ahrairah. And so they went away from Frith full of nothing but hunger to kill the rabbits.
Now all this time El-ahrairah was dancing and mating and boasting that he was going to Frith's meeting to receive a great gift. And at last he set out for the meeting place. But as he was going there, he stopped to rest on a soft, sandy hillside. And while he was resting, over the hill came flying the dark swift, screaming as he went 'News! News! News!' For you know, this is what he has said ever since that day. So El-ahrairah called up to him and said, 'What news?' 'Why,' said the swift, 'I would not be you, El-ahrairah. For Frith has given the fox and the weasel cunning hearts and sharp teeth, and to the cat he has given silent feet and eyes that can see in the dark, and they are gone away from Frith's place to kill and devour all that belongs to El-ahrairah." And he dashed on over the hills. And at that moment El-ahrairah heard the voice of Frith calling, 'Where is El-ahrairah? For all the others have taken their gifts and gone and I have come to look for him.'

"Then El-ahrairah knew Frith was too clever for him and was frightened. He thought that the fox and the weasel were coming with Frith and he turned to the face of the hill and began to dig. Hu dug a hole, but he has dug only a little of it when Frith came over the hill alone. And he saw El-ahrairah's bottom sticking out of the hole and the sand flying out in showers as the digging went on. When he saw that, he called out, 'My friend, have you seen El-ahrairah, for I am looking for him to give him my gift?' 'No,' answered El-ahrairah, withour coming out, 'I have not seen him. He is far away, He could not come.' So Frith said, 'Then come out of that hole and I will bless you instead of him,' 'No, I cannont,' said El-ahrairah, 'I am busy. The fox and the weasel are coming. If you want to bless me you can bless my bottom, for it is sticking our of the hole.'

"Then Frith felt himself in friendship with El-ahrairah, because of his resourcefulness, and because he would not give up evenwhen he thought the fox and the weasel were coming. And he said, 'Very well, I will bless your bottom as it sticks out of the hole. Bottom, be strength and warning and speed forever and save the life of your master. Be it so!' And as he spoke, El-ahrairah's tail grew shining white and flashed like a star; and his back legs grew long and powerful and he thumped the hillside until the very beetles fell off the grass stems. He came out of the hole and tore across the hill faster than any creature in the world. And Frith called after him, 'El-ahrairah, your people cannont rule the world, for I will not have it so. All the world will be your enemy, Prince With A Thousand Enemies, ans whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first, they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.' And El-ahrairah knew then that although he would not be mocked, Frith was still his friend.

And every evening, when Frith has dont his day's work and lies calm and easy in the red sky, El-ahrairah and his children and his children's children come out of thier warren and feed and play in his signt, for they are his friends, and he had promised then taht they can never be destroyed."

HOW TO BEAT A COLD... TO DEATH


It's not the worst feeling in the world but it does suck... You have a COLD! 
 
This means constant bathroom trips, Blowing your nose until it falls off, popping pills (legal ones) the list goes on.
 
The Common Cold or Cold for short is a viral infection of your upper respiratory tract — your nose and throat. 

Preschool children are at greatest risk of frequent colds, but even healthy adults can expect to have a few colds each year.

I'm sure we've all heard or have tried family remedies passed down from "generation to generation" and maybe we do feel better after following them or maybe its the placebo effect. Unfortunately if you catch a cold you can expect to be sick for one to two weeks on average.

Regardless I'm here to give you proven techniques to have you feeling better ASAP!!!

  • Water and other fluids. Water, juice, clear broth or warm lemon water with honey helps loosen congestion and prevents dehydration. Avoid alcohol, coffee and caffeinated sodas, which can make dehydration worse. 

  • Salt water. A saltwater gargle — 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt dissolved in an 8-ounce glass of warm water — can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. 

  • Saline nasal drops and sprays. Over-the-counter saline nasal drops and sprays combat stuffiness and congestion. In infants, experts recommend instilling several saline drops into one nostril, then gently suctioning that nostril with a bulb syringe. To do this, squeeze the bulb, gently place the syringe tip in the nostril about 1/4 to 1/2 inch (about 6 to 12 millimeters) and slowly release the bulb. Saline nasal sprays may be used in older children. Unlike nasal decongestants, saline drops and sprays don't lead to a rebound effect —a worsening of symptoms when the medication is discontinued — and most are safe and nonirritating, even for children.

  • Chicken soup. Chicken soup might help relieve cold and flu symptoms in two ways. First, it acts as an anti-inflammatory by inhibiting the movement of neutrophils —immune system cells that participate in the body's inflammatory response. Second, it temporarily speeds up the movement of mucus, possibly helping relieve congestion and limiting the amount of time viruses are in contact with the nose lining. 

  • Over-the-counter cold and cough medications in older children and adults. Nonprescription decongestants and pain relievers offer some symptom relief, but they won't prevent a cold or shorten its duration, and most have some side effects. If used for more than a few days, they can actually make symptoms worse. Experts agree that these medications are dangerous in children younger than age 2. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is evaluating the safety of over-the-counter cold and cough medications in older children. Keep in mind that acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) can cause serious liver damage or liver failure if taken in doses higher than recommended. It's common for people to take Tylenol in addition to flu medications that may also contain acetaminophen, which can lead to acetaminophen overdoses. Read the labels of any cold medication carefully to make sure you're not overdosing. If a cough lasts after your other cold symptoms have resolved, see your doctor. In the meantime, try soothing your throat with warm lemon water and honey and humidifying the air in your house. Don't give honey to infants.

  • Antihistamines. First-generation (sedating) antihistamines may provide minor relief of several cold symptoms, including cough, sneezing, watery eyes and nasal discharge. However, results are conflicting and the benefits may not outweigh the side effects. Humidity. Cold viruses thrive in dry conditions — another reason why colds are more common in winter. Dry air also dries the mucous membranes, causing a stuffy nose and scratchy throat. A humidifier can add moisture to your home, but it can also add mold, fungi and bacteria if not cleaned properly. Change the water in your humidifier daily, and clean the unit according to the manufacturer's instructions. If your infant has a cold, sitting in a steamy bathroom for a few minutes before bedtime may also help.

While all of the above can help and have been proven to do so the best solution to defeating your cold is to drink plenty of fluids (excluding coffee, alcohol, and soda) and to get plenty of rest!

VEGETARIAN VS. VEGAN

Let's be honest. How many of us know the difference? 

For those that know congrats but if your like me then let's learn together!

Vegetarianism is the practice of abstaining from the consumption of meat – red meat, poultry, seafood and the flesh of any other animal; it may also include abstention from by-products of animal slaughter.

Vegetarianism can be adopted for different reasons. Many object to eating meat out of respect for sentient life. Such ethical motivations have been codified under various religious beliefs, along with the concept of animal rights. Other motivations for vegetarianism are health-related, political, environmental, cultural, aesthetic or economic. There are varieties of the diet as well: an ovo-vegetarian diet includes eggs but not dairy products, a lacto-vegetarian diet includes dairy products but not eggs, and an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet includes both eggs and dairy products.
So there are essentially 3 types of Vegetarians. 

Of course there are some other types for all you fact police reading.

You have:
  • Pescatarians: (those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish.)
  • Pollotarians: Much like the pescatarian, this “semi-vegetarian” diet restricts meat consumption to poultry and fowl only. Pollotarians do not consume red meat or fish and seafood.
  • You even have a term recently coined to describe those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat. Flexitarian.
However when one refers to vegetarian especially in the US they are usually talking about Ovo, Lacto, or Ovo-Lacto because they are the most common here.

What is a Vegan?

A vegan is essentially the "Ultimate Vegetarian" and they are the most restrictive as far as what they eat.

Vegans do not consume any animal products or by-products. So vegans of course do not consume red or white meat, fish or fowl. They also do not consume eggs and dairy. Vegans do not use honey or beeswax, gelatin and any other animal by-product ingredients or products. 

Vegans typically do not use animal products such as silk, leather and wool, as well. 

You may think Vegan is pretty much as far as it goes but there are Vegan subcategories:

Raw veganism is a diet that combines the concepts of veganism and raw foodism. It excludes all food and products of animal origin, as well as food cooked at a temperature above 48 °C (118 °F). The definition of a raw vegan diet can be loosened to include vegan diets with at least 75–80% raw foods.

A raw vegan diet includes raw vegetables and fruits, nuts and nut pastes, grain and legume sprouts, seeds, plant oils, sea vegetables, herbs, and fresh juices. 

There are many different versions of the diet, including
  • fruitarianism: the practice of following a diet that includes fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, without animal products or grains.
  • juicearianism: is a diet which consists mostly of the juice from fresh fruit and vegetable juice
and 
  • sproutarianism: whose raw diet is almost entirely dependent on sprouted foods.

Hopefully you have an understanding of what a Vegan and Vegetarian are now and I think it is time for a CHALLENGE!!!

LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS (LDR's) CAN THEY WORK?


Before I start typing I know half of you all are saying no!!! Long Distance Relationships can not work!!! 

Well that's your reality and I hope in your ignorance you are still receptive.

So what is a LDR?

A long-distance relationship (LDR) or a "long-distance romantic relationship" (LDRR) is typically an intimate relationship that takes place when the partners are separated by a considerable distance. Partners in LDRs face geographic separation and lack of face-to-face contact. LDRs are particularly prevalent among college students- constituting 25% to 50% of all LDRs. [1] Even though scholars have reported a significant number of LDRRs in undergraduate populations, long-distance relationships continue to be an ‘understudied’ phenomenon.

So if the definition was even necessary can long distance relationships work?

Of course Yes and of course No!

As with anything else there is nothing guaranteed or 100% infallible. I am here however to inform you why they can since the overwhelming majority believe otherwise.

Delayed gratification:

Delayed gratification, or deferred gratification, is the ability to resist the temptation for an immediate reward and wait for a later reward. Generally, delayed gratification is associated with resisting a smaller but more immediate reward in order to receive a larger or more enduring reward later.

Delayed gratification is a key to success in majority of our aspirations. 

For example: in school (University or Otherwise) it is tempting to party every night and ignore work and other scholastic responsibilities however because you value graduating (more enduring reward) more than the club (immediate reward) you stop or at least limit your partying. 

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Another example: You are saving for a major purchase (Car, House, Business). Those new ____ look good though but you know that at the end of the day that purchase just sets you one step back from your true desire!

The great thing is This practice of delayed gratification can also be applied to relationships! 

If your significant other
Is truly worth it of course you can wait. Yes it is tempting and in human nature to be attracted to members of the opposite sex (especially when you are use to having your special someone around) however just as you practice discipline with anything else apply it for love!

1. Watch movies or TV shows simultaneously together!

This activity takes the #1 spot on our list because it is the activity that Frank and I LOVE TO DO THE MOST whenever we are apart. There are various ways of doing this. Most couples like to have contact while watching a movie together and do so over the phone and/or instant messenger and/or on their webcams :) You can each go out and physically rent the same movie and watch it together or you can access a streaming movie online.

2. What are you waiting for??? Get a webcam!

First of all, if you don't already have a webcam, get one! You'll be glad you did. For Frank and I, it was possibly one of the best purchases we ever made for our relationship! There are a bunch of ideas in this list that incorporate the use of video chatting.

3. Read a book together.

 A great idea is to read a book together. This is great for those couples who have limited time together, and need to find something to do together when they can't be. Find a book you think you both would enjoy and agree to read a chapter every night. Reading together, can open up lots of discussion, and can help boost a relationship in which both people feel they have run out of things to talk about. Check out Half.com. 4. Apologize for something stupid you did.

Okay, we all do stupid things once in awhile that hurts our other half from afar. Often they usually require an apology. Sometimes though it can be hard to overcome our pride and say "sorry." And then sometimes saying sorry doesn't cut it, and the hurt party throws it back in your face and tells you that you don't really mean it. We've all been there right? Well when you're at a distance, apologies are even harder, for example, you can't offer a comforting hug to make the other person feel better. And can you really help it if he/she is giving you the cold shoulder and they're not responding to phone calls or email?

Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
 
No matter what anyway says we all have fears... 
 
You may not fear someone but something scares you and you either come up with the courage to face it or run depending upon which is the easier route for you.

I have never been afraid of people. I don't understand why I should be they breathe and die the same as any other human no matter their wealth or stature.

So what Fear must I face?
I'll save that for another post

FEAR (Fake Evidence Appearing Real)

If you have not watched "After Earth" you should; If not for the acting then for the profound messages that it discusses.

One that was so powerful I committed it to memory. Will Smith's (A bright man in his own respect) character spoke to his son.

He said: 

Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity Kitai (Son's name). Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice.

...Fear is a choice.
The moment you decide in your mind that it has no power over you guess what happens? It losses all power!!!
 
Instead of imagining the worst or what could happen or even what has happened before decide that isn't going to happen and the best possible outcome will! Then my friends you will have turned your fear into a meaningless memory. Enjoy your life and fight battles as they come but never allow fear to have a place in your life.

SLEEP AND SUCCESS



Eric Thomas is a motivational speaker, author, activist, and a minister. 

Interesting fact: I am a huge fan of powerful and inspirational quotes
 
 I actually send out daily quotes to my loved ones. One of my recent favorites is from Mr. Thomas. 

So what's the quote? 

"Most of you don't want success as much as you want sleep." 

I would love to assume that anyone reading this would not fit into this category but would that be wise? 

Many people say they want to be successful but they don't want it bad, they just kind of want it. 

One of the first quotes I can remember learning is, "the early bird gets the worm" meaning that sleeping all day doesn't usually lead to you achieving your goal!

Now I know that some of you MC squared individuals are saying, 
"but you need 8 Hours of sleep..."

Blah Blah Blah. 

Let's look at the sleeping patterns of people that many (maybe even you) consider successful and then we will see if you "need" 8 hours of sleep anymore.

  • Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder and Square CEO: 4-6 hours of sleep

  • Tom Ford, fashion designer and director: 3 hours of sleep

  • Barack Obama, President of the United States: 6 hours of sleep

  • Donald Trump, chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts: 3-4 hours of sleep

  • Thomas Edison, was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb: 3-4 hours of sleep
There are many other examples I could name but I wanted to show people from different walks of life. 

Overall the magic number for success seems to be between 3-6 hours of sleep. Assuming the rest of the time is spent working you should see great results! 

There is no arguing with the fact that sleep is essential to living a healthy life and longer sleep can be beneficial.

 Also depending on ones goals one can be successful if they sleep more. 

For example: Mariah Carey likes to sleep 15 hours before she sings (I can almost guarantee on the rise to stardom she did not). 

The point of all this is to say in order for you to achieve your goals it will take sacrifices no matter what and if your not able to give up a few Z's then maybe SUCCESS is not in the stars for you.
